    spazio

Avio has years of experience in the design and production of solid and liquid propulsion systems for satellite launch vehicles. Avio produces the two lateral boosters and liquid-oxygen turbopump for the Vulcain cryogenic motor of the European Ariane 5 (of which Avio owns 14%), the satellite launch vehicle which will be launched from the European Space Centre in French Guiana in 2012.

Avio has also consolidated its experience as a systems integrator thanks to the Vega launcher, of which our ELV subsidiary (70% owned by Avio 30% owned by ASI) is the prime contractor.

In the field of satellites, Avio designs, integrates and tests subsystems in mono, bipropellant, and cold gases. We have supplied both the European Space Agency and the ASI, the Italian Space Agency, with propulsion subsystems for the launch into orbit of the EURECA, OLYMPUS, ITALSAT 1 & 2, SAX, COLLEGATO 1 & 2, XMM, INTEGRAL and SICRAL satellites.
